Spring update

I’m busy back in the studio this week before returning to Texas for my remaining spring exhibitions there.

Canoe Restoring

Russ McBride, a friend of mine just sent me a picture (above) of my wonderful 13 foot canoe which he is restoring in his workshop. I couldn’t resist posting it here. The old canvas has been removed for replacement and you can see his intricate inlay of the cedar planks, gunnels and ribs to replace the rotted bits. I’ve had this canoe for over 35 years and with it have shared countless adventure filled days on the water; from the wilderness lakes of Algonquin Park to the rapids of the French River which lead into Georgian Bay. I’ve carried it over steep rocky portages in black fly season and sat drifting in it to watch countless sunsets while being serenaded by loons. I’m so excited to paddle this refurbished old friend again this summer.

Also posted here is my watercoloured etching and aquatint called Evening Flight which is 17”x46” framed. It and another etching of mine called Sign of Spring has been accepted into the prestigious Art of the Animal Kingdom XX at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont which is held from June to August 2015 . They will be hosting a gala anniversary exhibition opening reception (and weekend for the invited exhibiting artists) as well as producing a full catalogue of the show. I’m looking forward to attending.
