happy new year

Just a short note to wish you all a happy and healthy New Year.

I’m enjoying some down time here in my studio, catching up with commissions, proofing new work for a big show show in Toronto in early February and generally recharging.

The travelling exhibition of my wilderness landscape etchings called Into the Woods which has been touring Canada for the last few years will next be opening at the Art Gallery of Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario on January 28th. It’s in Northern Ontario close to the US border with Michigan at the base of Lake Superior. They will be flying me up to give at talk about my artwork, which I am always happy to do.
Here’s a link to the catalogue and reviews for the show.

My exhibiting at the One of a Kind Show in Chicago in December was excellent, I’ll definitely be there again but I plan to do fewer shows this year (said that before), I’m determined to spend more time procrastinating and creating without deadlines looming.

On a side note my filmmaking son Jared through the production company Zapruder Films in which he is a partner, has his second feature film called Operation Avalanche premiering at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Fantastic! He co produced and shot it. Here’s a recent interview in the Toronto Globe and Mail talking about it. Does the name Zapruder ring a bell? Remember the grassy knoll in Dallas.

And lastly I thought I would post some pictures of my studio. One is from a snowless foggy day just before New Years Day and the other just after. By the way, with some help I did get those huge fallen tree sections split and stacked for our kitchen wood cook stove. Below those is a picture inside my studio taken today with my brand new wide angle lens which I know I am going to love. And at the top of this note is a recent etching called Morning Surf. It’s about 21”x24” framed.
