Upcoming Show:Waterfowl Festival – November 10-13, 2016 Greetings from my Millbrook Studio!
I am happy to let you know that I will be back to exhibit at the Waterfowl Festival in Easton this weekend. You can find me at the Armouries. http://www.waterfowlfestival.org I have been busy this summer creating new large works as well as a body of smaller hand coloured etchings. Framed they are about 14″ square and 14″ x 20″, both vertical and horizontal. Some are from ‘on the road’ and others from close to home. I will be bringing those as well as etchings from the crates of my recently returned national travelling show titled “Into The Woods”. To view the exhibition catalogue, click on the picture in this link. I’ve posted some pictures I just took of my barn studio, of me with a best in show award from a show last month and from the Millbrook pond near me. The image above is titled Top Slice. Below are some of the new smaller etchings. They are from left to right: After the Storm, Back Forty, Back Road, Causeway, Gentle Giant, Heartland, Midlands, Passing Rows & Skylight. Looking forward to seeing you at the show. Best wishes, George. Studio ExhibitionOctober 1 – 2 October 15 – 16 Millbrook, ON Fall greetings from my Millbrook Studio! I am happy to announce that I am having a Big Studio Exhibition over two weekends. The 1st and 2nd of October and again on the weekend after Thanksgiving, the 15th and 16th of October. Friends and collectors from the Toronto and Peterborough area, mark the dates on your calendar. I’ve included my Ann Arbor and Birmingham, Michigan mailing lists, so if you are up for a fall road trip I would be happy to see you as well. It’s been 7 years since I swung open my studio doors to show my artwork and my process. If you have ever thought of acquiring my artwork or just visiting my carriage house studio in Millbrook, this is the time. There will be etchings galore; from my framed art storage racks, my print drawers and from the crates of my recently returned national travelling show titled “Into the Woods”. There will be new etchings, older etchings, and etchings never exhibited before as well as some working proofs. Here’s a link to view the exhibition catalogue, click on the catalogue picture to view. The images are about 14″ x 20” framed, some vertical and horizontal and some square. My thought was that they would work well as sort of mix-and-match groupings. Here I have posted 3 of the 30 or so new images in the series. The first image is titled Back Road. The framed size is 13″ x 19″. The second image is titled Beyond The Veil. The framed size is 13″ x 13″. The last image below is titled Top Slice. The framed size is 13” x 19″. Greetings from my Millbrook Studio!
I am happy to let you know that I will be back to the South University Art Fair in Ann Arbor. You can find me at Booth # E82 on South University Avenue in front in Espresso Royale. I have been busy this summer creating a body of new small etchings which I will be displaying for the first time. The image sizes are 6″ x 6″ and 6″ x 12″, some vertical and some horizontal. My thought was that they would work well as sort of mix-and-match groupings. Here I have posted 3 of the 30 or so new images in the series. I hear it’s going to be a sweltering show weekend, but I think that is more the norm than the exception for the Ann Arbor show! I’ll bring a fan to help cool you off when you visit and it does make the inaugural paddle of my recently re-canvased cedar strip canoe (which I am planning to do when I get back from Michigan) even more appealing. Greetings from my Millbrook Studio!

Just a short note to let you know I will be participating in these upcoming shows. I’ll have some new etchings with me, as well as some previously un-exhibited work from my archives. I look forward to returning to Art Birmingham, and this will be my first time exhibiting at Art in the Square in Belleville. At the show, I hope to see those of you who have seen or purchased my etchings over the years at my exhibitions in Kansas City. It has been a few years since I was there and I look forward to reconnecting with you. At ART BIRMINGHAM you can find me in booth # 66. http://www.theguild.org/fairs/art-birmingham/ At the ART ON THE SQUARE, my booth is right on the square. http://www.artonthesquare.com/ The image above, Visions of Spring is of the creek on our property. It hasn’t been that long since that snow has finally melted. Framed Size: 18 1/2″ x 40 1/2″. Below is Sudden Flock, also from outside my studio. It measures 18 1/2″ x 24″, framed. Winter greetings from my Millbrook Studio. I’ll be exhibiting at The Artist Project in Toronto from February 18th – 21st. My booth number is 331. I hope to see you there, I’ll have many new etchings with me as well as some favourites from my archives. I have a few extra complementary tickets that I’d be happy to set aside for you, let me know by email as soon as possible if you are interested. About the image above: Halong Bay is from our Vietnam trip last year. Although we regularly travel to distant places, I rarely use images gathered on those trips but I couldn’t resist doing this etching. Framed Size: 20 x 48″. Pictured below are two of the etchings I will have from the archives and below them are pictures of my studio right now. Yes, that was a huge tree that came down close by! I look forward to seeing you at the show.
With best wishes, George Just a short note to wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. I’m enjoying some down time here in my studio, catching up with commissions, proofing new work for a big show show in Toronto in early February and generally recharging. The travelling exhibition of my wilderness landscape etchings called Into the Woods which has been touring Canada for the last few years will next be opening at the Art Gallery of Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario on January 28th. It’s in Northern Ontario close to the US border with Michigan at the base of Lake Superior. They will be flying me up to give at talk about my artwork, which I am always happy to do. Here’s a link to the catalogue and reviews for the show. My exhibiting at the One of a Kind Show in Chicago in December was excellent, I’ll definitely be there again but I plan to do fewer shows this year (said that before), I’m determined to spend more time procrastinating and creating without deadlines looming. On a side note my filmmaking son Jared through the production company Zapruder Films in which he is a partner, has his second feature film called Operation Avalanche premiering at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Fantastic! He co produced and shot it. Here’s a recent interview in the Toronto Globe and Mail talking about it. Does the name Zapruder ring a bell? Remember the grassy knoll in Dallas. And lastly I thought I would post some pictures of my studio. One is from a snowless foggy day just before New Years Day and the other just after. By the way, with some help I did get those huge fallen tree sections split and stacked for our kitchen wood cook stove. Below those is a picture inside my studio taken today with my brand new wide angle lens which I know I am going to love. And at the top of this note is a recent etching called Morning Surf. It’s about 21”x24” framed. Looking forward to seeing you down the road!
